Covington IT company makes website updates

Posted by Andre' Savoie On May - 29 - 2009

Bridgenet LLC is a Covington LA based computer consulting firm run by a friend of mine Bo Jakins. We recently helped them make some updates to their website which had not been changed much in recent months.

The first thing we did was re-do some of the content to be more user friendly. This included adding a list of services right on the home page and quick links to their products internally.

We also updated page titles, meta data and some other SEO basics to help with the site rankings for key phrases. All in all the site renovation keeps the overall look and feel of the site intact while making some key improvements for both the users and search engines.

Today’s potential homeowners have good reason to be confused. Most of the economic and housing market news may seem negative on the surface. On the other hand there is a new wave of government programs including housing incentives which seem attractive at first glance. When combined with the abundance of homes to choose from at great prices and the availability of low mortgage rates, many potential buyers are now carefully considering their options.
We invite you to join us at this seminar so that you can better understand the complex market conditions and make a good, informed decision for you and your family.

Learning the Squidoo ropes

Posted by Andre' Savoie On May - 19 - 2009

I’ve been fascinated by the whole concept of Squidoo. There were so many interesting things there from both a user and seo standpoint that I just had to jump in. So last night in I went.

3 hours later I had what I think is a nice first lens called Copper gas and electric lanterns – fall in love with lighting all over again. Writing the post was easy enough but the really fascinating part was how to present it. Much like web design or graphic work – you have to make something readable and interesting and Squidoo gives you lots of chances for both.

The part which I think makes Squidoo more fun than blogging is the chance to “plug in” fun stuff like polls, big pictures, lists and photos. You can even add a table of contents which really makes it nice for building longer pages – I wish this is something that came default on blogs or websites.

So the end product is informative, a little off beat and, I think, a little more fun than your average blog post mainly because Squidoo readers seem to reward good useful content. And I think if I were searching for information on a topic like copper gas lanterns this type of post would be of use to me. It has a summary, photos, lots of shopping links, related sites and even user generated content. All in all I think that makes a relevant search for just about anyone.

New Orleans souvenirs that won’t make you sick

Posted by Andre' Savoie On May - 3 - 2009

OK so everyone wants to bring home a hurricane glass from Pat O’Briens or some Mardi Gras beads from a parade. But what about a New Orleans souvenir that you can hang onto and use for years? Or better yet – one that won’t bring back memories of eating or drinking too much?

The folks over at Flambeaux Lighting make these beautiful hand made New Orleans style gas lanterns out of copper. These lanterns are hanging all over the local New Orleans area on famous hotels, buildings, homes and even streetcorners. If you’ve ever seen the famous shot of the Bourbon street sign with the gas lantern on top that is a good example of what they look like – althought that is not a Flambeaux Lantern.

Our home came with a couple of inexpensive, black gas lanterns which began to fade and discolor almost immediately. We replaced them with a couple of these lanterns and the change is stunning! These lights have a much more elegant look and the copper doesn’t dull or fade like black paint.

So if you are thinking about adding some decor to your home and would like to take home a piece of New Orleans – I encourage you to take a look at Flambeaux gas lanterns. These French Quarter gas lanterns won’t leave you with a hangover – but they will impress your friends and neighbors!
