OK so everyone wants to bring home a hurricane glass from Pat O'Briens or some Mardi Gras beads from a parade. But what about a New Orleans souvenir that you can hang onto and use for years? Or better yet - one that won't bring back memories of eating or drinking too much?
The folks over at Flambeaux Lighting make these beautiful hand made New Orleans style gas lanterns out of copper. These lanterns are hanging all over the local New Orleans area on famous hotels, buildings, homes and even streetcorners. If you've ever seen the famous shot of the Bourbon street sign with the gas lantern on top that is a good example of what they look like - althought that is not a Flambeaux Lantern.
Our home came with a couple of inexpensive, black gas lanterns which began to fade and discolor almost immediately. We replaced them with a couple of these lanterns and the change is stunning! These lights have a much more elegant look and the copper doesn't dull or fade like black paint.
So if you are thinking about adding some decor to your home and would like to take home a piece of New Orleans - I encourage you to take a look at Flambeaux gas lanterns. These French Quarter gas lanterns won't leave you with a hangover - but they will impress your friends and neighbors!
