Too hot to fish?

Posted by Andre' Savoie on Jun 24, 2009 1:40:00 PM

I was thinking about taking a few days off to go fishing in Venice this week but, at the risk of sounding like a ninny, its HOT! That's the one problem with going to Venice. You run all the way down the river - get out to the rigs and THEN you can start fishing. thats a long way to go if you need to find shelter or want to get out of the sun when it starts getting hot mid-day.

My crew from our most recent trip:
Thankfully our last trip at the beginning of June had perfect weather. We went down and took the boys fishing as well as Mr. Charlie from across the street. In between Mr. Charlie's endless complaining about rig hooks and impatient fisherman we had a nice bag of fish.
Unfortunately the electronic evidence of said trip is still in the hands of the more technologically challenged members of our crew. We have some great video of the kids catching red snapper that hopefully we will post shortly.

One of the fun parts of fishing for me is taking kids who have never fished for "big fish" before. Its always funny what they consider "big" and you have to always make sure to never call anything a "trash fish" because it's all great to them.
This time we had a friend come with us this time who had a blast catching big snapper and even a couple of really nice redfish including one that we could keep (the others were too big).
