Web Advertising Continues to Grow, But Are You Missing Out?

Posted by Andre' Savoie on Mar 5, 2015 12:06:25 PM

Every year, one thing you can count on is that web advertising will continue to grow.

As print ads continue to decline, the money in web advertising seems to go up and up.

According to MarketingPilgrim.com, Internet advertising boasted 16.9% growth in 2014 and is expected to grow by 15% for the next two years. It is without a doubt the fastest growing type of advertising.

The reasons for this continued growth are simple.

Each year people are spending more time on the Internet.

More people are relying on the Internet for news, entertainment, and product information every day.

Smart phones have made this even more exaggerated, as people can literally spend their entire day on the Internet now.

No other medium in advertising has this type of audience, and that’s why ad dollars continue to move towards digital.

Are You Taking Advantage?

Everyone is getting in on Internet advertising. If you are one of the few companies that has neglected this area, it is time to get involved.

Print ads are on the decline.

Radio ads, though posting slight growth, will never be the main source of advertising for most companies.

Digital advertising is the best option because it can be less expensive to break into as opposed to television, but the potential rewards are just as high. Obviously, you must make sure you are advertising correctly and using your ad dollars in a smart way.

There are millions of advertisements on the Internet, so you need to make sure you are placing your ads in the right place, but with the right approach, they will be effective.

Display Ads

Of all the types of Internet advertising, display ads continue to outpace other options, such as search.

Sample display ads:

Display advertising grew by an estimated 26% in 2014.

Every year, digital advertising has become more advanced and controlled, and companies are getting better and better at targeting the right types of people at the right times with their display ads. If you have no involvement in Internet advertising, display ads is a popular place to start, and can help you reach new customers as well as build your brand and awareness.

Mobile Advertising

Obviously, one of the most important types of advertising now is mobile advertising.

It’s difficult to quantify the impact that smart phones have had on the way people consume media and the way they shop. To see a few compelling statistics, click here. (link to prior blog post)

A consumer can search for restaurants or review a restaurant a step from the door before deciding if he wants to eat there. Likewise, people will search products while they are at the store to help them decide which one they want.

To put it simply, people are using their phones more often and for longer periods of time. They are also becoming more reliant on their phones for getting information.

This is why it’s growing six times faster compared to desktop advertising. Mobile is expected to grow at 39% a year for the next three years.

To be honest, ad agencies are still figuring out the best way to take advantage of the mobile space, but this is the time to get involved because you can make a name for yourself in mobile advertising while it’s still completely wide open.
